Fluid properties measurements

Available instruments for measuring the main fluid properties.

Brookfield AMETEK Viscosimeter Model LVDV1

It measures the dynamic viscosity starting from the torque necessary to maintain in rotation a spindle immersed in the fluid to be tested. The torque is estimated by means of a spring deflection. Viscosity ranges are the following:

.

  • 15 – 2.000.000 cP (-20 / +135 °C)
  • 3 – 10.000 cP (ambient temperature / +300 °C) with Small Sample Adapter and Thermosel
  • 1 – 2000 cP (+15 / +65 °C) with UL Adapter

Portable particle counter PALL PFC400W

It measures the quantity and the size of the solid particles in the working fluid. The particles are detected by means of the laser light blockage technology.

.

  • ISO 4406 code ranges: 01 – 23
  • Viscosity range: 2 - 300 cSt

Engler viscosimeter

Historical still operating instrument for measuring the kinematic viscosity. The working principle is to measure the time that 200 cc of oil take for flowing by gravity through a calibrated orifice. Viscosity range: 1 – about 200 cSt (ambient temperature / + 70 °C)

Mohr-Westphal balance

It measures the density of the working fluid by exploiting the buoyant force exerted by the fluid under test on a glass float.
