NICOLA NERVEGNA

Formerly Full Professor of Fluid Power (1942-2019)

Graduated in Nuclear Engineering (1971) from Politecnico di Torino. He joined the Politecnico staff in October 1971 and was Professor of Fluid Power for thirty years. He held both B.Sc. and M.Sc. courses in Torino, Vercelli and Mondovì, attended by more than 9000 students overall.

His research interests lay in the broad fields of Fluid Power with involvement in positive displacement pumps as well in the modelling, simulation and testing of various hydraulic components.

He was author of 94 scientific papers.

He was SAE voting member from 1977, member of the Scientific Board of the “Cemoter” (now Imamoter), National Research Council, and member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Fluid Power since its first issue in 2000.

After his retirement in November 2012, he worked with renewed enthusiasm to the writing of the book collecting all precious material coming from years of teaching and research activities. He entitled the book “Some steps into Fluid Power”, that has been published, by now in Italian, with the title “Passi nell’Oleodinamica”.

Prof. Nervegna passed away on November 12, 2019, after a fighting lasted more than one year against a terminal disease.

He was a great professor and a reference for colleagues and thousands of students in the field of Fluid Power.

We remember the passion for his job and the enthusiasm with which he delivered his lectures.

He definitely changed the life of many people.
